What you write in Selah is yours. This says exactly what stays on your device, and the one thing that does not.
Your highlights, notes, journal entries, prayers, memory cards, reading plan progress and reading statistics are stored on your device and synced through your own private iCloud, so they follow you to a new phone. Selah has no account and no server of its own. None of that writing is ever sent to us, and we cannot read it.
The World English Bible is stored inside the app and needs no connection at all.
The Christian Standard Bible, New King James Version, New Living Translation and New American Standard Bible are licensed, and their publishers do not allow a copy to be kept on your device. When you read one, Selah asks API.Bible for that chapter, so which chapter you opened is known to them.
Alongside it Selah sends a Fair Use report, which is how the publishers see how much their text is being read. It carries an identifier Selah generates for itself and a second one that lasts only while the app is open. Neither is your name, your email or your Apple Account, neither is your phone's own identifier, and both are gone when you delete the app.
No advertising. No analytics or tracking companies. Nothing is sold or shared, and nothing you write leaves your device. Apart from fetching the licensed translations described above, Selah does not talk to anyone.
If you turn on a reminder for the day's verse, your prayers, or a reading plan, Selah schedules it locally on your device. Nothing leaves your phone.
When you are signed into iCloud, this is stored in your private iCloud database, governed by Apple's privacy policy. Remove it at any time by deleting it in the app or through your iCloud storage settings.
Settings › Your Data › Delete all my data removes every highlight, note, journal entry, prayer, memory card, plan and statistic, here and in iCloud. Your writing can be exported first, from the same screen.
